The Red Berlepsch tree, also called Freiherr von Berlepsch, was first cultivated around 1880 by Diedrich Uhlhorn at Grevenbroich, Rhineland. It was named after Hans Hermann Freiherr von Berlepsch, the president of the Rhineland governing council at that time, and it remains a popular commercial apple in Belgium and Rhineland today.

Often one of the best of our adventurous apples from the orchard. The flesh is cream colored, firm, and delicate, and the flavor is an amazing, aromatic delight. Berlepsch von Freiherr is also suitable for cooking, and it stores well for about three months. It has one of the highest vitamin C contents of all apples.
