If you haven't heard of Holstein, then you're just not on top of Germany's great contributions to the world of apples. First discovered by chance in 1918, Holstein is -- quite simply -- a wonderful apple. The sweet-tart apples were discovered growing as a chance seedling in the early 20th century and quickly became one of the most popular varieties in Germany, favored for their balanced flavor and multi-purpose nature.

Deep cream flesh, slightly coarse-textured, juicy, with an intense rich aromatic flavor. Very good for cooking, as well as for fresh eating. One of the favorites at apple tastings. Holstein apples can also be blended into smoothies, pressed into juice, or used as a base flavoring for cider.
